Bjp: Bjp evokes religious sentiments for votes: Mlc | Mangaluru News

Mangaluru: KPCC working president and MLC Manjunath Bhandary stated that the BJP, in desperation and without any significant achievements to show during election campaigns, has exploited religious sentiments. At a press conference here on Tuesday, Bhandary said the BJP has claimed that any vote for their party would be akin to voting for Rama. “The BJP has realized the real picture regarding the number of seats they are likely to win in the state and the country. That is why they are making these statements out of desperation,” he said. In 2019, the BJP promised to build the Ram Mandir and now they claim that the temple has been built, he noted. “The Ram Mandir has not been completed yet. Meanwhile, they have turned it into an election shrine and seek votes in its name. Even before political parties were formed, people in India worshiped Sri Ram in every village. People don’t need to learn Hinduva from the BJP. We need a Hindutva where people live harmoniously without any communal divide,” he stated. “The BJP has focused on issues related to religious sentiments, hijab, halal, mosque, mandir and ‘karimani’, ignoring the real issues and development. While the Congress is fighting elections on the basis of the Constitution and the welfare of the people, the BJP is trying to gain political influence from religious sentiments. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made statements on religious sentiments that none of his predecessors have made in Indian history. Who gave them the certificate declaring them ‘nationalists’, and what moral right do they have to use the term? Do not let the BJP bring religion into the elections,” he said. Referring to a promise made by the BJP in 2014, Bhandary said no one has gone to jail in this scam. “Modi visited Karnataka 28 times and held 16 roadshows. However, the Congress won 136 seats,” he added, stating that the Congress will win 24 of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state.
