SDNY COURTHOUSEApril 23 – David Pecker’s testimony in the Trump trial was interrupted by Judge Merchan’s April 23 contempt hearing.

The prosecutor presented 10 cases that he said violated the gag order. Trump’s lawyer Todd Blanche said the comments were political and not about the upcoming testimony of Michael Cohen or Stormy Daniels.

Judge Merchan told Blanche that he is losing his credibility, at least with his Court. Alvin Bragg’s office is demanding a $1,000 fine per post and that it be removed from the internet or platform.

No statement was made, but it seemed clear which way things were going.

Pecker’s status as a witness who testified only under subpoena was highlighted by ADA. Steinglass told him that not remembering his assistant’s last name was not a good way to start.

Pecker said he got along well with Trump and then described two examples of what he called catch and kill: buying stories so they wouldn’t be published. By 2 p.m., he hadn’t even gotten to Stormy Daniels.
