Morocco’s participation in the ministerial meeting on science and technology policy

Paris – The ministerial meeting on science and technology policy of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) kicked off on Tuesday at the international organization’s headquarters in Paris, with the participation of Morocco.

The Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, Abdellatif Miraoui, will lead the Moroccan delegation to this meeting, under the slogan ‘Shared challenges and transformative actions’.

This meeting, chaired by France, and co-chaired by Austria, Colombia, Korea, Norway, Spain and Switzerland, aims to identify transformative actions in science, technology and innovation, accelerate transformations towards greater sustainability, promote shared values integrate and govern emerging science and technologies, and strengthen the role of international cooperation to meet… Global challenges.

“This meeting aims to establish a coordinated and practical agenda in the fields of science, technology and innovation,” French Minister of Higher Education and Research Sylvie Rethilieu said in a welcome message.

Participants in this meeting will work to develop an action-oriented statement, encouraging key actors to pursue ambitious policies of research and innovation in the face of the environmental challenges that “lead us towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, especially regarding the oceans,” she added.

In the face of various global challenges, especially climate change, protection of biodiversity or sustainable management of resources, this event, which brings together ministers and high-level representatives of OECD Member States and non-OECD countries, as well as international organizations, brings together several international delegations to bringing together their transformational strategies in science, technology and innovation.

This two-day event is also an opportunity to implement the “Transformative Actions in Science, Technology and Innovation Programme”, which focuses on sustainable transformations.
