Carrie Johnson expresses her grief after the loss of her beloved pet

Carrie Johnson shared some sad news for followers on Tuesday when she revealed that one of her baby ducks has passed away.

The former media representative had documented how she cared for three little ducks after they hatched at her family home in Oxfordshire last week. Donny, the duckling who sadly passed away, had been a concern for Carrie since his arrival as he was not eating and was much smaller than his siblings, Wally and Daffy.

“It didn’t work out,” Carrie wrote. “We all knew from birth that he was not right, but I am still very sad about it. Nature is cruel, RIP dear Donny.” The post was shared this morning alongside a photo of the duck.

Before the news this morning, on Monday evening, Carrie revealed that her husband Boris Johnson “didn’t think he would survive the night” after Donny appeared significantly weaker than Wally and Daffy while they were in their tank together.

Another sad photo showed Donny cuddling with one of the other little ducks. “A rather depressing Donny update. He’s still not eating and while the other beautiful two are hopping around, splashing in their water bowl and nibbling on their chick crumbs, Donny seems very lethargic and sits very quietly in the corner.

“He’s also about two-thirds the size of the others now. They’re growing and he’s not. Boris doesn’t think he’ll survive the night. *Sigh. I’m going to give him lots of love and attention today and make him feel and make him so comfortable as possible.”

The words were accompanied by a series of updates with photos of the three chicks together, as well as videos of them roaming around their tank.

Carrie, whose brood of three lovebirds, bought her a duck egg incubator for her birthday last month. The Johnsons already have a family of ducks living in their duck pond, located in their expansive two-acre garden.

Romy read to the newcomers

The kids certainly loved the little ducks, and Carrie’s two-year-old daughter Romy even read to her feathered friends on Thursday.

“My daughter Romy insisted on reading to them at breakfast,” Carrie wrote alongside a sweet photo of the child wearing colorful pajamas and reading from a children’s book.
