At least 10 people have been killed after military helicopters crashed in mid-air during the parade

Ten people have been killed after two Navy helicopters collided in mid-air during a military rehearsal.

The incident took place at Lumut Naval Base in the western state of Perak at 9:32 a.m. local time, the navy said.

“All victims were pronounced dead at the scene and sent to Lumut Naval Base Military Hospital for identification,” the Navy said.

In a video circulating online, several helicopters can be seen flying in formation when one of the helicopters’ rotors clipped another helicopter.

The two helicopters then struggle in the air to maintain stability before the plane crashes to the ground.

According to photos from the crash site, the HOM (M503-3) helicopter crashed onto the steps of the naval stadium, while the other fell near the swimming pool of the naval sports complex.

Defense Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the aircraft, a maritime operations helicopter and a Fennec military helicopter, were rehearsing for an upcoming military parade.
