More mobile food laboratories will be coming soon

PESHAWAR:

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would soon set up five more mobile food testing laboratories in the province to ensure adulteration-free food supply to the general public in the province.

Food Minister Zahir Shah Toru chaired a comprehensive review meeting on the performance and ongoing projects of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority in Peshawar on Monday.

The minister emphasized on ensuring the supply of quality and adulteration-free food products to the general public in the markets and directed the relevant officials to take necessary steps in this regard.

He said the provincial government is taking priority actions to increase the capacity of the food authority. The minister added that seven mobile food testing laboratories are working in the fields and five more mobile food laboratories along with a state-of-the-art laboratory will be installed soon.

During the briefing, Food Authority Director General Wasif Saeed along with Director of Administration Ishtiaq Khan and Technical Director Dr. Abdul Sattar Shah, detailed updates on the authority’s performance and ongoing projects.

Saeed said work on the state-of-the-art laboratory is in its final stages and the procurement of another five mobile food testing laboratories has been completed, which will soon facilitate on-site testing of food products.
