The court revokes the order upholding Ganduje’s suspension

  • The Kano State High Court presided over by Justice Usman Na’Abba, while quashing the earlier orders, on Monday confirmed the suspension of the former governor of Kano State.

The suspension of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as a member of the party has been quashed by the court.

The Kano State High Court, presided over by Justice Usman Na’Abba, has reversed orders that earlier Monday confirmed the suspension of the former governor of the state.

Justice Na’abba had last week heard the prayer of the Assistant Secretary of Ganduje Ward, Dawakin-Tofa Local Government Area, Laminu Sani and Legal Adviser Haladu Gwanjo (prosecutors) for an order to suspend the suspension of Ganduje as Chairman of the party to confirm .

The prosecutors were part of the nine departments that suspended Abdullahi Ganduje a week ago.

However, in a turn of events, the presiding judge, Justice Na’Abba, set aside the order suspending Ganduje and issued a fresh interim order suspending the execution of the court’s order on April 17.

He said his decision was the result of the reading of an Ex-Parte Motion together with a 27-paragraph affidavit in support and a written speech dated April 22, 2024, sworn by one Glory Adah, a litigation secretary at the law firm of the fourth respondent, he reversed the order.

“And after hearing, Mr. LO Oyewo Esq, with A. Falana Esq and J. Essiet Esq, counsel for the fourth respondent/applicant.

“An interim injunction is hereby granted suspending the execution of the interim injunction contained in the court’s order dated April 17, 2024, directing the parties to maintain the status quo ante on April 15, 2024 with regard to the suspension of the fourth respondent/applicant to the first respondent by the Ganduje Ward Executive Committee pending the hearing and determination of the fourth respondent/applicant Motion on Notice.”
