The Montgomery County Planning Commission (MCPC) invites the public to submit nominations for 2024 Montgomery Awards Program by May 20. The Commission is seeking projects and individuals/organizations that represent the best in site design, environmental management, and planning advocacy in Montgomery County.

This prestigious annual program recognizes and promotes the best in planning, design and environmental sustainability awareness of building design excellence and innovative site planning in communities within the province. It recognizes the high quality of work and commitment of communities, organisations, individuals and professionals in their contribution to these excellent projects.

MCPC seeks exceptional projects including residential, office, commercial and institutional developments that exemplify good site design, such as building placement, project context, parking and traffic, pedestrian amenities, landscaping and sustainable design practices. The project categories include land development, revitalization, open space, transportation, environment and community impact – a category added in 2022 to recognize the successful efforts of nonprofits or private and public entities and partnerships that contribute to the well-being and diversity of a community. Projects can include community gardens, affordable housing and public spaces.

The county is also seeking nominations of an individual or organization that has made a significant and sustained contribution to advancing or advancing planning in Montgomery County for consideration for a Planning Advocate Award.

Montgomery County Conservation District partners with MCPC to present an Environmental Stewardship Award as part of the Montgomery Awards Program. The district is looking for a project, completed within the last three years, that exemplifies environmental management practices and water and soil quality conservation.

Winning projects are selected by a committee composed of members of the Montgomery County Planning Commission Board, and award recipients are honored at an awards ceremony. The Environmental Stewardship Award is selected by the Montgomery County Conservation District.

Information about the program, previous award winners, entry and nomination requirements, and online entry forms are available at www.montcopa.org/MontgomeryAwards.
