National road policy is in progress – FBC News

Efforts are being made to formulate a national road policy to effectively plan infrastructure that can withstand the effects of climate change.

This includes detailed annual plans and budgeting for road development and maintenance.

Minister of Public Works Ro Filipe Tuisawau emphasizes the importance of this initiative, especially as road infrastructure continues to deteriorate due to adverse weather conditions.

Ro Filipe says they recognize the attention needed to facilitate urgent road infrastructure works.

“So on the national roads policy, I have already advised the PS to work on that, so that is already being discussed with ADB and Australian development partners who are already here to help us work on that.”

Ro Filipe states that while discussions are still ongoing, the groundwork for this policy will begin early next month.

“So once we have that, we will have the foundational documents where we can move forward and implement the strategy, and also, as I said, the annual plans and work plans and the associated funding.”

The Minister emphasized that this policy will stimulate economic growth and benefit all Fijians.
