MEETING THE ANDERSON FAMILY DURING RAPID FEST 2024

Hardcore and skateboarding have a lot in common. Both look stupid to outside viewers, they piss off old people and leave you sore in the morning. Following this logic, you can assume that the average skateboard enthusiast is also into hardcore, so it didn’t take an Einstein IQ to know that an event with both would be a good time.

That’s exactly what Simi Valley’s Rapid Skateshop has orchestrated. They brought together 24 hardcore bands and a slew of sketchy ramps for two days of sweaty skating and moshing at their second annual Rapid Fest. The entire Anderson family was there (no, not Pamela, I mean Mike and Jake), including Mike’s truck, which was transformed into the main event of the skate jams.

The music is loud, there are plenty of burnouts, and Jake has a story about losing his dinner on both sides. What more could you ask for from an event tucked away in the hills of California? And before you ask: yes, that was Jesse Rutherford, singer of The Neighborhood and ex of Billie Eilish. Did someone say identity crisis? To enjoy!
