An incident near North Garner Middle puts the school on lockdown

North Garner Middle School went into lockdown Monday after authorities said they received reports of someone with a gun near the school.

According to the Garner Police Department, officers received a report of a person with a gun on the 100 block of Broughton Street. North Garner Middle School went into a code yellow lockdown due to its proximity to the scene. According to police, ‘evidence of a crime’ was found at the location.

Authorities said the incident occurred at a home on Broughton Street and there was no immediate threat to the school.

No injuries were reported and police are still investigating the scene.
