San Diego Senior Living Excellence: 16 Local Communities Stand Out in National Survey

In a notable announcement from U.S. News & World Report this week, 16 senior living communities in San Diego County were honored for their outstanding services and care to older residents. These awards underscore the facilities’ commitment to quality across multiple dimensions, including safety, resident satisfaction and overall value.

Recognized as among the best in the country, these communities were rigorously evaluated among more than 3,500 facilities nationwide. U.S. News & World Report rounded up 1,702 facilities for recognition, with San Diego County’s 16 known for their high-quality level of care.

Sumita Singh, general manager of health at US News, emphasized the rigorous selection process. “Our rankings reflect a deep commitment to providing families with the reliable, detailed information needed to make informed decisions about senior options,” said Singh. Criteria for the evaluation included extensive consumer satisfaction surveys, focusing on essential factors such as meal quality, respect in care, safety measures and enrichment activities.

The survey required that each senior living facility receive responses from at least five residents or family members, or from 30 percent of those living in assisted living and memory care units.

Among those distinguished for exemplary memory care were White Sands La Jolla, Silverado Encinitas and several others in notable locations such as La Jolla and Escondido. The awards for Best Independent Living Facilities were presented to Solstice Senior Living in El Cajon, Fairwinds-Ivey Ranch and others, highlighting their commitment to fostering an engaging and supportive environment for seniors.

The awards also covered assisted living, with facilities such as Belmont Village Cardiff by the Sea and The Montera in La Mesa standing out for their superior services.

In particular, Vi at La Jolla Village received special recognition as one of the top retirement communities in the country, further cementing San Diego County’s reputation as a leading region in senior care excellence.

These awards not only underscore the high standards these communities meet, but also serve as a crucial guide for seniors and their families seeking a supportive and caring environment for their loved ones.
