The ‘incompetent’ brought a timetable, but ‘the ones with the men’ have no idea – Kabutey Ocansey

Geoffery Kabutey Ocansey, Executive Director of Revenue Mobilization Africa, has taken a swipe at the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government over the continued intermittent power supply, popularly known as dumsor, in the country.

In an interview on Citi TV’s Breakfast Daily show on April 21, 2024, Kabutey Ocansey indicated that what is even more disturbing is that the government seems oblivious to when the lights would go out to come up with a timetable.

He added that the government of John Dramani Mahama, who was called incompetent by members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), was able to come up with a plan that would help Ghanaians plan their lives better, but the current government does not seem to be to have an idea.

The Executive Director made these comments in response to former nuclear power plant hopeful Flagbearer Kwadwo Nsafoah Poku who reportedly said it is difficult for the government to come up with a timetable for the ongoing power cuts.

Kabutey Ocansey was shocked by the statement by Nsafoah Poku, an energy policy expert.

“I quoted something on my Facebook wall yesterday; “Arrogance deeply rooted in ignorance is a pathetic condition.” And I quote it again: ‘Arrogance deeply rooted in ignorance is a pathetic condition’. You’re arrogant, but you know next to nothing about what you’re saying.

“I listened to one of the energy experts on City FM and everyone listening on Saturday was impressed by the gentleman’s mentality. I mean, that level of thinking, that’s where you see this thinking problem,” he said.

Kabutey Ocansey added: “The gentleman tells me that it is actually difficult to plan a timetable. Okay, so the incompetent person could put forward a timetable, but those who are ‘the men’… the men who arrived to save the day, can’t just plan a common timetable. What do we call them?”
