Columbus police identify a pedestrian killed in a two-vehicle collision

Police have identified a man who died after being struck by two vehicles fleeing the scene on Columbus’ Far East Side.

James K. Brusenhan, 66, was crossing East Broad Street at Richmond Woods Drive at 12:59 a.m. Friday, according to a police report. He was struck by an unknown vehicle westbound on East Broad Street, which left the scene.

Police say the impact threw Brusenhan into the center turn lane and he crawled into the first eastbound lane, where a witness said he was struck by a 2016-2018 Toyota RAV4. The driver of that SUV also fled, according to a police report.

The crash is still under investigation. Anyone with knowledge of the vehicles involved can contact the Columbus Division of Police Crash Investigation Unit at 614-645-4767 or submit an anonymous tip to Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-8477.
