Cardi B’s preppy grunge look matches her thigh tattoo

“One thing about Cardi is she is always on top of fashion,” reads a comment under Cardi B’s latest Instagram post. We completely agreed with that. Scroll down the artist’s feed and her unapologetically bold style is easy to spot, even in her spare time.

Yep, whether she’s standing front row in three sequin dresses in 24 hours at Paris Fashion Week or coordinating with Shakira in a breastplate for the duo’s music video, Cardi always manages to slay style. And her most recent look that earned the aforementioned comment is no exception.

We’ve heard of clashing patterns, but what about clashing aesthetics? Posing in her spacious hallway (which rivals some of the most luxurious hotels we’ve ever seen with the XL floral arrangement adorning her console table), Cardi paired an anime crop top with a plaid pleated miniskirt for a preppy grunge look .

Knee-high white socks with black bows and Mary Jane platform heels completed the look. Cardi added another bow in the form of a white ribbon tied in her hair and pulled into a high ponytail with an XL bouffant. Blair Waldorf could never do that.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about Cardi’s outfit was the fact that she managed to perfectly coordinate the color palette of her ensemble with that of her leg tattoo, which peeked out from under the micro hem of the skirt.

Cardi shared a look at the peacock tattoo that spans her hip in 2020, after the inking was updated a decade after it was originally applied.

Cardi’s tattoos are almost as iconic as she is, so we love that she made them part of her outfit.
