What is your company called and what does it do?

My company is Gingersnap Nail Art. I offer hand painted, pre-designed press on nails and custom design options.

What made you want to do this work?

I have always loved nails and nail polish as a way to express my creativity. I want to be able to offer affordable and beautiful nails as a fashion accessory.

What problem did you want to solve with the company?

Although nails are a luxury, they can also be affordable. I wanted to give people a way to save time and money by skipping the salon AND still get salon quality nails and art.

Who is your customer base/demographic?

I have a wide range of customers. Press-on nails are great for anyone who wants to get their nails done but can’t or doesn’t want to go to the salon.

How does your company make money? How does it work?

My company sells nails in two ways. The first is pre-designed nails. These are always-in-stock kits that come with 20-30 nails, so customers don’t have to worry about sizing, which can be helpful for first-time buyers. This allows for a range of inventory to be purchased at any time while I work on custom orders.

The second way I sell nails is by offering bespoke designs where customers provide ideas and feedback and we work together to create their ideal set.

Where in the city can we find your profession?

Normally, nail technicians work directly on customers’ hands in nail salons. Because I create a customer-applied product, I can create and ship my designs in my small workspace at my home. I visit craft fairs and supplier markets to reach new customers.

What is the best question a potential client can ask your professional when comparing services? Also give the answer.

I often encounter people who are new to press-on nails or who have only gone to nail salons for manicures. The question I get asked the most is

“What are the advantages of press-on nails compared to acrylic?

Press on nails are certainly an affordable alternative to the salon. A set of press-on nails costs about 1/3 of the price you would pay at the salon, and they last up to 2 full weeks. They can be applied in the comfort of your own home, without chemicals or expensive tools. Press-ons are durable, which means that if you care for them properly, you can reuse them and revisit some of our favorite designs.

What is the best thing about what you do? What’s the worst?

The best thing about what I do is my ability to be really creative and

I would say the hardest part of my job is marketing. There are many excellent nail artists out there and while you can be confident in your skills and talent, marketing yourself is essential.

What is your favorite joke about your own profession?

My nail polish collection is complete. I don’t need another bottle. – Never said nail technology
