Terrorists kill seven, abduct woman, rustle animals in Katsina, Kaduna | The Guardian Nigeria News

Lawmaker urges calm among residents
Suspected terrorists have killed one person and injured another during an attack on Mai Dabino community in Danmusa Local Council of Katsina State.

Also, in neighboring Kaduna State, terrorists attacked Ambe community in Sanga Local Council, killing six people and leaving eight others hospitalized due to injuries.

The Katsina incident, which occurred about 2.45 am yesterday, saw the terrorists abduct a woman and rustle many domestic animals.

The Guardian learned that the terrorists had stormed the community on motorcycles, armed with automatic weapons.

A source from the area said the terrorists shot sporadically while breaking into shops and homes, carting away valuables like phones, money and food items.

According to him, the terrorists inflicted machete cuts on the body of the victim, whose life doctors were struggling to save in the hospital.

The deceased was said to have been buried yesterday afternoon according to Islamic rites.

The incident came about a week after suspected terrorists killed two persons in the area, including the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman for Mai Dabino community, Saidu Basa.

As of press time, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Abubakar Aliyu, had yet to respond to an inquiry on the incident.

THE bandits, in the Kaduna incident, reportedly opened fire on Sunday night, forcing residents to flee for dear lives.

Police authorities in the state have not responded to the latest attack in the community, just as the spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, could not be reached by The Guardian, at press time.

Meanwhile, House of Representatives member for Jema’a/Sanga Constituency in Kaduna, Daniel Amos, has expressed sadness over the Sunday night attack on Ambe bandits.

He said reports reaching him indicated that “the brutal attack by the bandits claimed the lives of six innocent persons, while eight others that sustained injuries are receiving medical treatment.”

In a statement, yesterday, in Kaduna, the lawmaker condemned the heinous act, which he described as another attempt to destabilize the peace and security in his constituency and state.

He said: “It is unacceptable that our people cannot live in peace without fear of being attacked by these criminal elements. I use this opportunity to call on all residents of Sanga to remain calm and peaceful, as we work towards finding a lasting solution to the insecurity in the area.”

We must continue to promote peaceful coexistence among our diverse communities, irrespective of our differences.

“I also call on the security agencies to act swiftly to apprehend the perpetrators of this evil act and bring them to justice. The safety of our people must remain a top priority. We cannot allow the criminals to continue to operate with impunity.”
