A man was arrested Sunday, April 21, on suspicion of breaking into the home of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass in the Hancock Park neighborhood by breaking a window, authorities said.

Around 6:40 a.m., the intruder broke into the Getty House — the official residence of the mayor of Los Angeles, located at 605 South Irving Boulevard — said Deputy Mayor for Communications Zach Seidl. Bass and her family were home at the time of the burglary but were unharmed.

It is unclear whether anything was stolen.

“The mayor is grateful to the LAPD for its response and arrest of the suspect,” Seidl said.

The man was later taken into custody, according to Los Angeles police. Information about the suspect, including a possible motive, was not immediately available.

Bass’ former residence in the Baldwin Vista community was burglarized in 2022 when she was a congresswoman and mayoral candidate, with two revolvers stolen from a safe in her closet. Two men were later arrested in Van Nuys.
