Fashion department store Primark opens its first branch in Budapest

Primark has announced the opening date of its first store in Hungary. The international fashion department store will be located in Arena Mall, Budapest, one of the city’s largest shopping centers, and will open its doors to customers on Tuesday, May 28.

According to Table of contents, the ground-level store in Arena Mall will offer shoppers the latest fashion trends across an area of over 3,100 square meters at affordable prices. The range includes women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, home decoration, beauty products and accessories.

Primark is committed to offering more sustainable products at affordable prices. 55 percent of its clothing is already made from recycled or more sustainable materials, and the company aims to increase this to 100 percent by 2030.

The opening in Budapest is a major milestone in the chain’s global expansion plans, with Hungary being the fashion brand’s 17th market worldwide and the 6th in Central and Eastern Europe.

This shows that the region remains an important market for the further development of the brand’s store network, said Maciej Podwojski, head of Primark Central and Eastern Europe.

As he said, Arena Mall is one of the largest and busiest shopping centers in Budapest: this is a fantastic opportunity for them to show even more customers what a unique shopping experience Primark offers. The Arena Mall spokesperson added: “Arena Mall is known to always have the fashion-oriented and trend-sensitive shopper in mind and strives to offer the widest and highest quality international range of stores and brands. Our shopping center is proud that the world-famous Primark has chosen Arena Mall as the location for its very first store in Hungary. We wish Primark all the best for their launch at Arena Mall!”

They noted that 2024 will mark five years since Primark entered the Central and Eastern European region, opening its first store in Ljubljana, Slovenia in June 2019.

The fashion chain currently operates twelve stores in five markets (Slovenia, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania and Slovakia). In addition to the opening in Budapest, Primark continues its ambitious expansion plans in Central and Eastern Europe, opening stores in Timisoara, Romania, Prague, Czech Republic and Bydgoszcz, Poland in the coming year.
