Thousands of teens seeking mental health care

More than 4,000 under-17s have sought mental health help in Barnsley, shocking new figures reveal.

A total of 4,140 people – mostly teenagers – contacted support services in the past year, according to an NHS report.

Barnsley East MP Stephanie Peacock said: “It is so important that children know how to express something they are struggling with to someone they trust.

“If you or your child are struggling with your mental health, there are many excellent services that can help you.”
