Brightstar Group marks World Earth Day with innovative green initiatives – The Intermediary

The Brightstar Group is celebrating World Earth Day today (April 22) with a series of initiatives aimed at promoting environmental awareness and action within its team.

This follows successful certification as a Carbon Neutral Business in 2023 by Carbon Neutral Britain, offsetting carbon emissions through the Woodland Fund Portfolio and receiving a Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP) to reduce future emissions.

Founded in 2020, Carbon Neutral Britain supports British individuals and businesses in tackling climate change.

The organization has made significant environmental impacts by offsetting more than 500,000 tons of CO₂ and planting more than three million trees.

A year after achieving carbon neutrality, the Brightstar Group has implemented several effective changes, including a car-sharing project, paperless meetings and energy reduction strategies in its offices. The People Development Team has switched to ‘e-portfolio’ systems, which has significantly reduced paper consumption.

World Earth Day 2024 activities, organized by the Group’s Carbon Neutral Team, include educational sessions and a competition called ‘Make a meal for Earth Day’.

Teams will grow their own vegetables, fruits and herbs for a Grand Picnic Lunch planned for late summer, with prizes for the largest produce and best recipes. These activities emphasize the importance of local and organic products to reduce the ecological footprint.

In addition, the Group is shifting its Internet searches from Google to Ecosia, a search engine that finances tree planting and eco-projects with advertising revenue, demonstrating how everyday tools can support environmental efforts.

Will Lloyd Hayward, Chief Operating Officer of the Brightstar Group, said: “The Brightstar Group takes its corporate and social responsibility very seriously and leads by example to drive positive change within our sector and our wider society.

“While achieving carbon neutral certification was important to us, it was only the first step in our ongoing commitment to monitor and minimize the impact of our business. We have come up with practical and inventive ways to achieve this.

“We hope that the actions we have taken for Earth Day 2024 will not only help raise awareness and bring about positive change, but also encourage other companies in the sector to follow suit.”
