KU and Intel India sign MoU to create future AI workforce

In a significant development towards advancing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital readiness under the ‘AI for Future Workforce’ program initiative, the University of Kashmir (KU) and Intel India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU) signed and formalized to train human resources. and also to introduce courses based on the ‘AI for Future Workforce’ programme.
KU Registrar Prof. Naseer Iqbal signed the MoU at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on Wednesday.
Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, GoI, K Sanjay Murthy; Assistant Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Devendra Kumar Sharma; President, Intel India, Gokul V Subramaniam; Vice President, Client Computing Group and General Manager, Client Platform, Veerappan Swaminathan; Founder and Director Sustainable Living Labs, Singapore Systems, Intel and Vice Chancellors of several universities were present on the occasion, read an official statement here.
“The MoU emphasizes the varsity’s commitment to equip the students and faculty for the AI ​​landscape and enhance their employability in the digital age,” an official spokesperson said in a statement issued here.
KU Registrar Prof. Naseer Iqbal and other policymakers present at the event emphasized that any digital transformation first requires capacity building of public sector leaders or the current workforce working on policy development and implementation.
“It is therefore important that governments and universities upskill their policy leaders, including staff, to become resilient in the use of intelligent technologies such as AI, which can act as enablers of innovation and sustainability,” the statement said.
To further drive AI skills on a broader scale, the University of Kashmir and Intel India are devising strategies for program scalability.
“The aim is to bring together all stakeholders to explore ways to leverage AI to improve employability, encourage innovation and support the development of a skilled workforce at scale,” the statement said.
The event featured a panel discussion that sought to explore the evolving relationship between Artificial Intelligence (AI), education and skills, by senior government officials, vice-chancellors of renowned universities, industry leaders and leading experts. The panelists pitched insights into the transformative impact of AI in shaping the future of work.
KU Vice Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan congratulated the entire team on signing the MoU with Intel India for the benefit of the youth, especially college students.
“Such an ecosystem will shape the future of our student community in the AI ​​landscape,” she reiterated.
