Bailee’s journey began at Berry College, where she received her Bachelor of Animal Science degree. She later pursued a master’s degree in secondary science and agricultural education, honing her skills and knowledge in both academic and practical areas. For the past eight years, Bailee has been a science and secondary agriculture teacher in the public school system.

Bailee lives in the Gore community of Chattooga County with her two children, Oaklyn and Colt, and understands the importance of holistic education that goes beyond the traditional boundaries of the classroom. With her children as inspiration, she founded Back to the Basics Academy, where children can immerse themselves in hands-on learning experiences while developing essential life skills.

Back to the Basics Academy offers a unique alternative to traditional education, where academic learning is seamlessly combined with practical life skills. Through a curriculum that focuses on activities such as cooking, money management, gardening, pet care and teamwork, children gain valuable knowledge that goes far beyond the textbooks.

One of the key features of the Back to the Basics Academy is the four-day-a-week program that provides children with ample time to deeply connect with their environment and learning experiences. By emphasizing the principle of ‘learning by doing’, Bailee ensures that every child has the opportunity to explore, experiment and grow in a nurturing and supportive environment.

Back to the Basics Academy offers a compelling solution for parents who have considered homeschooling but have encountered obstacles. By joining the academy, children can benefit from a variety of educational experiences while enjoying the freedom and flexibility of an on-farm learning environment.

To learn more about the Back to the Basics Academy and how it can transform your child’s educational journey, Bailee invites you to an interest meeting on Thursday, May 16 at 7 p.m. The meeting will take place at 237 Gore Subligna Rd in Summerville.
