Nigeria will provide enough food during my term, Tinubu boasts

President Bola Tinubu boasted that Nigeria would become self-sufficient in food production during his term in office.

The President affirmed that having been bestowed the traditional title of Jagaban Borgu in Niger about 20 years ago, he would support all efforts of the state for rapid development.

Tinubu made this known on Thursday during the ground-breaking ceremony of the 84-kilometer road construction from Bida to Minna in Kakakpagi, Katch Local Government Area of ​​the state.

He called on the leaders of other subnational countries to emulate what he called “the giant steps of Nigerien Governor Mohammed Bago.”

The President, represented by the Minister of Information and National Guidance, Mohammed Idris, assured that the Federal Government would continue to work with States that bring development to their people, saying Nigeria would be self-sufficient in food production during his administration. .

“For governments at all levels to grow, there must be cordial relations. The Federal Government will support Niger to ensure that the desired prosperity is achieved. Nigeria will be self-sufficient in food production during my administration. The construction of roads will save lives and create opportunities for greater economic development,” Tinubu said.

The President commended the First Class Traditional Ruler and Chairman of the State Council of Traditional Rulers, Etsu Nupe, Yahaya Abubakar, for ensuring peace in his domain.

Tinubu said: “As a traditional title holder of Jagaba Borgu since about twenty years ago, I am also a son of Niger and will be part of whatever will bring development to the people of the state.”

In his remarks, Governor Mohammed Bago said the construction of Bida Minna Road is a promise fulfilled.

“As encapsulated in our pact with Nigerlites under the New Niger Agenda, this ground-breaking ceremony marks the commencement of the construction of the 84-kilometer standard dual carriageway with street lights, interchange and underpass at both ends of the road, a promise that has been fulfilled.

“This project is of utmost economic importance to us as a state. Therefore, the groundbreaking ceremony we are witnessing today is a paradigm shift from the usual lip services of the past.

This shows our commitment to building world-class road infrastructure that will endure over time to make Niger a benchmark in infrastructure and socio-economic development in Nigeria.

“We are ready to change the negative narratives in line with our ambitious New Niger Agenda,” he said.
