Dog Day celebration Saturday in Spa City

SARATOGA SPRINGS —Impressions of Saratoga will host its 20th annual Dog Day Celebration in front of the store, at the corner of Broadway and Phila St, on Saturday, May 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Each dog is greeted with fresh water and treats, and first-time visitors have their photo taken in front of the “Doggie Wall of Fame.”

Well behaved pets, on a leash and under voice control, are welcome.

The Saratoga County Animal Shelter and HOPE (Homes for Orphaned Pets Exist) local animal rescue organizations will be on hand with information about their programs and animals looking for forever homes.

Donations of pet items such as food, treats, collars, leashes, blankets and toys are accepted.

HOPE’s Walk for the Animals takes place Saturday at 10 a.m. in Congress Park. Wellspring will be on hand to provide education about their ‘Safe Pet Partnership’ – a program to find foster homes for pets of people in abusive situations who are afraid to leave for fear of what will happen to their pets.

Hop on Home, a rabbit rescue and rescue center, will be there with some adoptable bunnies and program information.
