Accused Sagar Pal, Vicky Gupta, was sent to police custody till May 27

In a major development in the investigation into the shooting incident outside Salman Khan’s residence, accused Sagar Pal and Vicky Gupta were remanded to judicial custody by a special MCOCA court till May 27.

The decision came as their police custody ended today and police requested an extension for further questioning. However, the court opted for judicial detention.

Lawyer Amit Mishra, who represented the accused, expressed his dissatisfaction with the court’s decision and highlighted what he considered to be a scripted procedure. Mishra said, “It is unfortunate that when they were filed on April 29, there were four accused, one of whom was given judicial custody. Today only suspects number one and two were shown, while others were absent. The prosecutor sought their police custody without concrete evidence. However, the court has remanded suspects number one and two to judicial custody which will last till May 27, from May 13.”

Mishra further pointed out the lack of substantive evidence presented by the prosecution, apart from an alleged phone call, urging a fair trial.

Mohammad Rafiq Chaudhary, recently arrested in Rajasthan, emerged as a new figure in the investigation. Mumbai Crime Branch revealed that Chaudhary had facilitated financial support and conducted reconnaissance for the shooters, Sagar Pal and Vicky Gupta. Chaudhary’s arrest adds a new layer to the complicated web surrounding the shooting incident.

The fire incident, which took place on April 14 outside Salman Khan’s residence at Galaxy Apartments, sent shockwaves through the Bandra area of Mumbai. The subsequent arrests revealed links with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, prompting Mumbai Police to invoke the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) against all those involved in the shooting.

Meanwhile, a lookout has been issued to Anmol Bishnoi, brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, in connection with the case. The search for Anmol Bishnoi symbolizes the ongoing efforts to unravel the complexities surrounding the incident.

In another development, accused Mohammad Rafiq Chaudhary has been remanded in crime branch custody till May 13. The crime branch revealed that Chaudhary had met both the gunmen in the Kurla area on April 8 and 11, further confirming his involvement in the crime. . (ANI)
