CHC and OMC are working together to celebrate Earth Day

Chestnut Hill College (CHC) and Our Mother of Consolation (OMC) celebrated Earth Day with “Hands Across Chestnut Hill,” a joint event showcasing sustainability projects created by OMC students and their CHC mentors.

The event, made possible by a $100,000 grant from the Connelly Foundation, included a variety of projects including poster boards, poems, crafts, paintings, handprint illustrations, photo collages, a mural promoting recycling and even a fourth-grade project involving students. grow their own chia pets. These projects were the result of a mentoring program funded by the grant, which aims to improve OMC students’ skills in reading, writing, STEM and critical thinking.

“Hands Across Chestnut Hill” has also helped raise money to rebuild OMC, which tragically burned down in a fire in March 2023. Since then, CHC has provided OMC students with a haven to continue their education, fostering an extensive partnership that includes collaboration at various events throughout the year.
