Carolina Herrera receives the 2024 Hispanic Heritage Award

Carolina Herrera will be honored with the 2024 Hispanic Heritage Award for Fashion at the 37th annual Hispanic Heritage Awards (HHAs) at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts’ Opera House on September 5.

Supported by 40 national Hispanic institutions, the HHAs were established by the White House in 1988 to commemorate the founding of Hispanic Heritage Month in America.

“It is an honor to receive the prestigious Hispanic Heritage Award, which recognizes the tremendous contributions and legacies of Latinos in the United States and the world,” said Herrera. “I am proud to have the opportunity to celebrate our rich heritage and achievements with my fellow honorees this September.”

“The Hispanic Heritage Foundation is thrilled to honor the transcendent Carolina Herrera, a true global icon who represented our community with such tremendous vision, determination and grace throughout her historic career,” said Antonio Tijerino, president and CEO of HHF . “We look forward to paying tribute to Carolina and all the winners through their achievements, cultural pride and our great promise to this country and the world.”

Other honorees, performers, presenters and presenters will be named at a later date.

Herrera presented her first women’s ready-to-wear collection at the New York Metropolitan Club in 1981, and the House of Herrera grew into a global luxury brand. The Puig-owned company has a global retail network that includes three wholly owned and operated Carolina Herrera boutiques in New York, Dallas and Palm Beach, Florida, a recently opened beauty store in Nanjing, China, and more than 320 licensed CH Carolina Herrera stores offering lifestyle collections for women, men, children and accessories. In 2019, Wes Gordon was named creative director of Carolina Herrera.

Puig, owner of brands such as Herrera, Rabanne and Jean Paul Gaultier, went public last Friday in Spain’s biggest listing since 2015. The IPO valued Puig at 13.9 billion euros and was several times oversubscribed, the company said.

Throughout her career, Herrera has won numerous awards, including a Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award and the Founder’s Award in Honor of Eleanor Lambert from the Council of Fashion Designers of America; the Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion; the Style Awards Designer of the Year; the Fashion Group International Superstar Award; Queen Sofia Spanish Institute Golden Meal; Gold Medal of Fine Arts from King Juan Carlos I and CFDA Award for Womenswear Designer of the Year.

The HHAs, which air nationally on PBS, are considered by Latinos to be one of the highest honors for Latinos and are also the only Hispanic programming that honors Latino excellence across categories and disciplines. Community and business leaders, entrepreneurs, STEM-related impactors, educators, innovators, government officials and youth stand alongside celebrities and cultural icons.
