Princess Diana’s family supports Prince Harry during Invictus Event

Although no members of the royal family were present besides him, Prince Harry was able to enjoy the love of his family during his stay in Britain. On Wednesday, the Duke of Sussex attended the Invictus Games Foundation’s 10th anniversary celebrations at St Paul’s Cathedral in London. The event was similar to the Paralympic Games, but focused on injured soldiers, as well as veterans. Although many hoped the British event would attract some royals, no one except the Duke of Sussex attended. However, he did receive support from Princess Diana’s family.

Many royal fans were hoping for some sort of family reunion between Harry and his estranged brother, Prince William, and his father, King Charles, who is currently battling cancer. Although no senior royals showed up in support of Harry and the Invictus Games, he did have family members before him.

Two of Princess Diana’s siblings – Charles Spencer and Lady Jane Fellowes – were in attendance, as were three of Harry’s cousins: Lara Spencer, Louis Spencer and George McCorquodale.

You could see the family members greeting each other outside the church. Once inside, Harry flashed a big smile as he greeted his family members, making him look comfortable and at ease.

Ahead of the trip, a spokesperson for Prince Harry confirmed this HuffPost that there would be no meeting between father and son.

In response to the many questions and ongoing speculation as to whether or not The Duke will meet his father this week while in Britain, this will unfortunately not be possible due to His Majesty’s full schedule. The Duke obviously understands his father’s diary with obligations and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.

Of course, it’s disappointing to see another opportunity where the family could theoretically get together, but they haven’t been able to make it happen. It comes amid a difficult time for the royal family, both internally and on the world stage. It is difficult to say what will happen as time passes, but it is clear that many in Britain want a moment of reconciliation and peace between family members.
