TOBA TEK SINGH: A Birds Hazard Control Committee meeting was held at Shorkot Rafiqui Air Base on Wednesday with Air Commodore Aatir Mahboob in the chair.

The meeting was also attended by police and government officials from Toba Tek Singh and Jhang districts. During the meeting, Flight Safety Officer Squadron Leader Irfan Sarwar said that when a bird collides with an aircraft, it causes major losses to the aircraft. He said that due to animal sacrifice during the upcoming Eidul Azha, the birds would reach the areas around Rafiqui Air Base to collect the remains of the sacrificial animals.

He therefore advised citizens to dispose of the remains of the animals properly so that birds could not come to the area. He said pigeon flying, kite flying and aerial shooting could also be dangerous around the air base.

The airbase commander urged the participants to create awareness among the general public by making announcements for this purpose through loudspeakers at the mosques and help the PAF.
