Dice and Needle is organizing a cat supply drive

May 8 – BATESVILLE – Dice and Needle, 107 E. George Street, Batesville, is holding a pet drive.

Store owner Natasha Kellerman said she wanted to do something to raise awareness of “specially handicapped pets,” both because she has one and because when she searched for information about special needs animals, she found a lot of information about special needs dog shelters. and rescues, but found none for cats.

Kellerman wants to make sure cats get the attention they deserve, and thinks the best way to do that is to draw attention to the people who rescue animals, especially cats, through a supply drive.

This is the first time that Dice and Needle organizes an animal campaign; However, Kellerman maintains a small free library in front of the store and a Blessing Box nearby.

The supply campaign started on May 1 and will run until May 11.

Kellerman collected lists of needed items from area shelters, including:

—Dry food for cats and dry food for kittens

-Cat litter

—Cat toys

—Tall kitchen bags, 13 gallon and 35 gallon sizes

—Sheets of detergent and fabric softener

-Bleach

—Dawn dish soap

— Disposable gloves, both foodservice style and medical style

—Paper towels

—Liquid hand soap

Monetary donations are also accepted.

All donations go to shelters in the region, depending on the number of items received.

Kellerman said she plans to start with Ripley and Franklin counties and then expand to Decatur County and PAWS of Dearborn County if enough donations come in.

“I know all the shelters can use it,” Kellerman said.

Anyone who makes a donation before May 11 will receive a commemorative sticker and a 10% purchase coupon on Dice and Needle.
