Anne Ball (née Paul) – Obituary –

April 5, 2024

In loving memory ~

It is with sadness that we share the news of the passing of Anne Ball (née Paul) on Friday, April 5.

While she did this, all her children were by her side, in her house. Anne chose a beautiful spring morning to continue her journey.

Anne had deteriorated physically over the past year when her health recently underwent a rapid change. She was loving to the end and provided friends and family with special moments that we will always cherish.

Anne was born in Pouce Coupe and grew up on a farm outside Dawson Creek before her family moved to the city as a young girl. After high school, Anne moved to Vancouver to study library science at UBC, where she met her future husband Lorne. They lived in Sarnia, Ontario before moving to Edmonton where they raised their family. Further moves took them to Castlegar and Cranbrook twice.

Anne was predeceased by her husband Lorne, her brothers Stew & Art and her parents Janet & Jack.

She leaves behind a large family whom she loved and in turn adored: her children Derek & Mhairi, Geoff & Candice, Alex & Scott and Ken & Susan; her grandchildren Kahlila, Isabella, Sophia & Dylan, Duncan & Jaymee, Jordyn & Ben, Lilly, Max & Rose and Kara & Frank; and her greats Callahan, Griffin, Parker and Kennedy.

Likewise, Anne loved her wide circle of friends, those from her childhood in Dawson Creek, her years at UBC and in Vancouver, her many friends from Castlegar & Cranbrook and all the wonderful people who became part of her life on Vancouver Island.

Anne enjoyed many things, big and small. She could find joy in the first crocus of spring and another hand of cards with her friends. One of her proudest achievements was being selected as one of the Weston Girls, representing Dawson Creek, BC on the Coronation tour to Great Britain in 1953. The friendships she made on the tour lasted her entire life.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 25 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM in her backyard in Parksville, among the flowers and birds she loved so much. If you wish, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Parksville SOS, Society of Organized Services – District 69.
