Sarawak Tourism returns to the Arab travel market

Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) returned to the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2024 from May 6 to 9, 2024 to continue their efforts to attract more tourists from the Middle East.

The meeting was held at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) and was used to showcase Sarawak’s diverse attractions, ranging from its rich cultural heritage, natural landscapes and local communities, on a global platform.

Promotional activities will also be held on Sarawak products during an Update Seminar on May 9 at Novotel World Trade Centre. This event is organized in collaboration with Royal Brunei Airlines.

With ATM’s theme ‘Empowering Innovation – Transforming Travel Through Entrepreneurship’, STB aims to position Sarawak not only as the gateway to Borneo, bridging Kalimantan, Sabah and Brunei, but also as a leading ecotourism and responsible tourism destination on the world map.

Sarawak wants more tourists from the Middle East

STB CEO Sharzede Datu Hj Salleh Askor said in a statement that STB’s participation in ATM2024 is a golden opportunity to put Sarawak at the top of visitors’ minds when it comes to ecotourism and responsible tourism in the Middle East region.

Sharzeda noted that Sarawak welcomed 3,630 visitors from the Middle East in 2023, exceeding their best year of 2019, when 3,394 visitors arrived.

This year, visitors to the Sarawak ATM booth had the opportunity to experience the rich offering of Sarawak’s diverse cultural heritage through daily dance performances by the Sarawak Arts Council (SAC).

Besides highlighting Sarawak’s Culture, Adventure, Nature, Food and Festivals (CANFF) attractions, STB also promoted its iconic Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF).
