JSW Energy shares fall 3% in choppy trading; drop of 12% in 3 sessions

JSW Energy released its earnings report after trading hours on May 7, which showed that consolidated net profit rose 29% to ₹351 crore in the March quarter, compared to ₹272 crore in the quarter ended March 31, 2023. Total revenue rose by 3% YoY (YoY) to ₹2,879 crore, compared to ₹2,806 crore in Q4 FY23. EBITDA grew a strong 47% year-on-year to ₹1,292 crore in the quarter, driven by increasing contribution from the renewable portfolio and strong performance from thermal assets.

For the full fiscal 2024, profit rose 17% year-on-year to ₹1,723 crore, while total revenue rose 10% to ₹11,941 crore. EBITDA for the year grew 53% year-on-year to ₹5,837 crore on the back of renewable energy capacity expansion and strong thermal performance.

As of March 31, 2024, consolidated net assets and net debt stood at ₹20,832 crore and ₹26,636 crore, respectively, resulting in a net debt-to-equity ratio of 1.3x. Liquidity was also stable, with cash balances (including unencumbered bank balances, FDs and liquid mutual funds) at ₹4,691 crores as on March 31, 2024.
