Our Desi Girl and pan-Indian actress Alia Bhatt, who made a stunning appearance at the Met Gala in a custom Sabyasachi saree, has emerged as the ‘most visible’ celebrity at the event, beating the likes of Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian .

According to influencer marketing platform Lefty, Alia topped the list of most visible celebrities, followed by Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian.

Alia Bhatt posted her photos from the Met Gala on Instagram and wrote a long caption about her look and its significance. “It was a call to the Garden of Time – an ode to art and eternity. Timelessness is endless, and we recognize that things made with time and care can last forever. In our search for an Indian interpretation of this universal theme, the outfit has taken on a life of its own. Nothing embodies tradition and innovation like the sari; in the capable hands of @sabyasachiofficial, this vision was fully realized. We looked to the past as a guide to the future, drawing inspiration from the timeless sophistication of the Indian nobility.

“We focused on intricate craftsmanship, with hand embroidery, gemstones and elegant beadwork and fringe, characteristic of the 1920s fringe style. Our color palette pays tribute to the beauty of nature and reflects the earth, sky and sea. We embraced a delicate nostalgia for hair and makeup – an elevated hairstyle embellished with intricately woven braids and soft freckles – a tribute to the gentle caress of time.

“Creating this was quite an experience… equal parts fun and stressful. It has taken a collective effort of 163 dedicated individuals, including master craftsmen, embroiderers, artists and dyers, who invested a total of 1965 man-hours to create this ethereal sari. As I wear this outfit, I feel incredibly grateful to embody this exquisite creation, a testament to boundless love and painstaking effort.
