Alia Bhatt’s stunning Sabyasachi Saree steals the show at the Met Gala 2024

Alia Bhatt’s stunning performance at the 2024 Met Gala, adorned in a mint Sabyasachi sari, has received universal acclaim, including praise from her family, fans and the fashion community. Her mother-in-law, Neetu Kapoor, expressed her admiration on Instagram, saying, “You are amazing.” This was Alia’s second appearance at the gala, following her debut in 2023 in a Prabal Gurung-designed dress that paid tribute to Karl Lagerfeld.

The sari featured a dramatic train that captivated onlookers and epitomized the Met Gala’s theme ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’. Combining traditional Indian craftsmanship with a contemporary twist, Alia’s ensemble celebrates the timeless elegance of Indian nobility with its intricate embroidery and delicate beadwork, inspired by the fringe style of the 1920s.

Alia’s mother, Soni Razdan, and sister-in-law, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, also shared their pride and admiration on social media. Soni Razdan posted a video of Alia’s interview at the Met Gala, commenting, “My baby girl makes everyone proud,” later adding, “I can’t stop swooning over what to do.”

Talking about the creation process on Instagram, Alia shared how much effort it took: “Creating this was quite an experience… both fun and stressful. It has taken a collective effort of 163 dedicated individuals, including master craftsmen, embroiderers, artists and dyers, who invested a total of 1965 man-hours to create this ethereal sari. She expressed her gratitude to her styling team for their exceptional collaboration.

The post quickly filled with supportive comments from industry peers and family. Shaheen Bhatt called her “My fairy,” Bhumi Pednekar exclaimed, “Wowwwwwwwwwwwww,” Saba Pataudi commented, “Amazing,” and Janhvi Kapoor declared, “Insane insane insane.”

Alia’s Met Gala look not only celebrated the art of fashion but also highlighted India’s rich cultural heritage, making a major statement on one of fashion’s most celebrated stages.
