It seems like this is a much bigger problem in the New Orleans area. One commenter said someone dumped iguanas in Chalmette, near the Home Depot.

What is the animal cruelty law in Louisiana?

Title 14, Section 102.1 Outlines Louisiana’s laws regarding animal cruelty.

  1. Intentional torture, mutilation, mutilation or murder of animals: This provision prohibits persons from intentionally harming animals through torture, mutilation, mutilation or murder. Such actions are considered atrocities and are subject to punishment under the law.
  2. Neglect and abandonment: Louisiana law also prohibits the neglect or abandonment of animals. This includes failure to provide adequate food, water, shelter and veterinary care necessary for the animal’s health and welfare. Animals left without proper care and attention can suffer immensely, and individuals responsible for such neglect can be held liable under the law.
  3. Failure to provide proper care: The law requires individuals to provide proper care and attention to the animals in their care. This includes meeting their basic needs and ensuring their physical and mental well-being. Failure to do so may result in penalties under animal cruelty legislation.

Based on what can be seen in the photos provided by authorities, it is clear that someone should be held accountable because he undoubtedly violated Louisiana’s animal cruelty law.
