Illegal immigrant in Florida accused of trying to hire hit man to kill witnesses after son stabs teen to death

An illegal immigrant has been arrested for trying to ask someone to kill two cooperating witnesses after her 14-year-old son stabbed a teenager to death.

“In April, we learned that Manuel Marcos Cardona’s mother was planning a heinous act. Our detectives and undercover officers conducted a thorough investigation during which the defendant, Josefina Cardona-Cardona, agreed to pay an undercover officer to carry out the crime,” the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.

Now Josefina Cardona-Cardona faces two charges of murder and will be deported upon completion of her prosecution.

Manuel Marcos Cardona, her son, previously pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10 years in prison for fatally stabbing a man.

The 15-year-old boy pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to 15 years in prison for stabbing a 19-year-old man during a birthday party in Lake Worth Beach in 2022.

Manuel Marcos Cardona, of Lake Worth Beach, was 14 years old when the stabbing occurred on June 18, 2022, but was charged as an adult on August 15, 2022.

According to WPTV, a fight broke out between two adults at home at a five-year-old child’s birthday party. The victim intervened to break it up, and other people at the party surrounded him.

The victim was stabbed five times and Manuel Marcos Cardona and his parents, including Josefina Cardona-Cardona, continued to beat the teen, according to the arrest report.
