Years after immigration policies separated families, 1,400 children have not been reunited

It was May 7, 2018, when then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions in San Diego outlined a new federal policy that has come back to haunt the Trump administration.

“I have established a ‘zero tolerance’ policy for illegal entry at our southwest border,” Sessions said. “If you cross this line unlawfully, we will prosecute you. It’s that simple.”
