Third tragedy for family as tributes pour in for teenager killed in Wicklow crash

A male teenager was arrested following the incident.

The death of a 15-year-old girl in a crash in Wicklow on Sunday was reportedly the third heartbreaking tragedy her family has suffered.

Molly Dempsey was a passenger in the single-vehicle crash in Slaney Park, Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow on Sunday May 5.

A male teenager was arrested following the incident on suspicion of offenses under the Road Traffic Act and is being held at a Garda station in Wicklow.

The Mirror reports that Molly’s death followed her older brother Roy, who died aged 13 in September 2007, and another sibling, Killian, who died aged 16 in 2016.

A friend wrote on social media: “Molly, you broke my heart into pieces. In your short life you have brought many laughs and smiles to those around you. I’m sure you’ve always put a smile on my face and always made me laugh with your silliness and your amazing personality.

“You were the most loving, caring and kind-hearted person I have ever come across and you would always go above and beyond for anyone. You always had a cheeky smile on your face and a small, cheeky smile at that.

“I hope your big brothers out there are taking care of you and that you are all taking care of your friends and family during this difficult time. Rest in peace my beautiful angel. We all love you and miss you very much.”
