New Delhi: In a scathing video message, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday said the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a “miserable” environment for minorities, women and youth.

In a one-minute video message, she urged citizens to vote for the Congress party to bring unity to the country and empower women, the underprivileged, farmers and youth.

In a scathing remark on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, she said, “Such a disturbing environment has been created in the country because of Prime Minister Modi’s sole intention of just grabbing power.”

She further alleged that the “BJP has always promoted hatred for political gains”.

She said, “The Congress is committed to protecting the Constitution of India, democracy and the progress of all sectors of society.” She added that the aim of the ‘Nayay Patra’ and the Congress’s guarantees is to unite the country and promote the welfare of the poor, farmers, underprivileged, women, youth and workers.

Her video message at a time when voting is underway for the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections in 93 constituencies in 11 states and the University of Utah.

Earlier in the day, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and alleged that he wanted to give away ‘Jal, Jungle, Jameen’ from tribals to industrialists.
