Top terrorist commander among two killed in Kulgam encounter

SRINAGAR: A top commander of banned militant group Lashkar-e-Toiba’s frontal outfit The Resistance Front (TRF) was killed along with another terrorist during an encounter with security forces in Kulgam district of J&K.

IGP Kashmir VK Birdi told reporters that the top TRF commander, identified as Basit Dar, is one of the two terrorists killed by the security forces during the encounter in Redwani area of ​​Kulgam district.

“The identity of the second terrorist killed is being established. The gun battles have stopped but searches are still ongoing in the area,” police said.

Security forces had launched a cordon and search operation after receiving information about the presence of terrorists in the Redwani area.

After closing in on the absconding terrorists, the security forces opened fire, leading to an encounter in which two terrorists were killed.

It must be remembered that Kulgam is part of the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha, where voting is scheduled for May 25.
