Bad Religion & Social Distortion take on Boston

Spring in Boston usually means that students are busy preparing for final exams. So it makes perfect sense that Professor Greg Graffin rides into town just as the mortar slabs are going up to heaven. Graffin’s punk mainstays Bad Religion have collaborated with Lynn native Mike Ness and Social distortion to co-headline the North American tour that hits the MGM Music Hall at Fenway tonight (May 7). During the run, Social D will play a classic debut album Mommy’s little monster for his 40th birthday, and are the first shows since Ness was diagnosed with tonsil cancer.

Says Ness: “Yes, we are back in action and can’t wait for this tour! We did this with (Bad Religion) in Australia in 2022 and the shows were amazing! We have also decided to celebrate the 40th anniversary and reissue of Mommy’s little monster that we will play the album in its entirety. This should be a very special tour and we are all looking forward to it.”

Graffin also has something to say about it, adding: “Bad Religion and Social Distortion played together in 1980. Although we were moving in different directions, we both carried the torch of Southern Californian punk throughout. Now we are so excited to be on the same stage again.”
