Officers arrest murder after twelve years

NEW DELHIA 37-year-old man, who had been evading arrest in a murder case since 2012, was arrested from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh where he was hiding after changing his identity, an official of the Special Cell of Delhi Police said on Tuesday.

The accused was identified as Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Bulandshahr district of UP, and he was also declared a ‘proclaimed offender’ by the court on July 30, 2012.

According to police, information has been received about Mukesh Kumar alias Babloo who was hiding in Aligarh area.

“On April 27, it was further learned that Mukesh works in a Dhaba with the pseudo name Babloo in Kuldeep Vihar area, Aligarh. A raid was conducted and the accused was arrested under 41.1(C) Cr.PC. after following due legal procedure,” a senior police official said.

On interrogation, it was revealed that he along with his associates Vedprakash and a youth had committed the murder of one Netrapal in Timarpur police station in January 2012 by strangulation with rope to rob the truck and settle old enmity.

“Nettrapal worked as a truck driver. Currently, the accused Vedprakash is being tried in court. Mukesh is the real uncle of co-accused Vedprakash. Soon after the murder, accused Mukesh, Vedprakash and the youth went into hiding, but later Vedprakash and the minor were arrested,” the official said.
