Call of Duty Endowment DLC honors military service

Call of Duty developers receive record donation for veterans’ charity

May is Military Appreciation Month and Activision is celebrating the occasion with the launch of new downloadable content (DLC) for Call of Duty titles, aimed at supporting the veteran-focused charity, the Call of Duty Endowment. In addition to this initiative, Activision proudly announced the receipt of its largest private donation ever, worth a whopping $2.5 million.

The substantial donation comes from Kenneth C. Griffin, the founder and CEO of Citadel hedge fund and Griffin Catalyst. This important contribution is expected to facilitate the placement of more than 4,000 veterans into gainful employment, affirming Activision’s commitment to supporting those who have served their country.

The latest DLC release, the Call of Duty Endowment Knight Recon Tracer Pack, is available for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, Warzone and Warzone Mobile. In addition, the Regulator package is offered for Call of Duty: Mobile.

The Knight Recon DLC includes a variety of content, including operator skins, weapons, a weapon charm, calling cards, and double XP tokens, among other items. Notably, all active US military members and veterans are eligible to receive this DLC at no cost.

The Regulator DLC for Call of Duty: Mobile introduces a new female operator, Splicer, along with a vehicle skin, calling card and more. All proceeds from the sales of these DLC bundles will go to the Call of Duty Endowment, in line with the organization’s mission to support veteran employment initiatives.

In addition to these efforts, Activision has partnered with USAA for the U Assist Veterans in-game event, taking place from May 8 to 22. This event encourages players in Modern Warfare III and Warzone to work together on objectives, with proceeds contributing to the cause of the Endowment.

Additionally, Activision is partnering with the Texas Rangers baseball team to host programming at the team’s home stadium on May 15 dedicated to honoring military veterans. As a gesture of appreciation, the stadium is offering $1 worth of hot dogs on this occasion.

Founded in 2009 by Bobby Kotick, the Endowment has helped more than 125,000 veterans secure employment in the United States and the United Kingdom. By 2024, the Endowment aims to place more than 15,500 veterans in jobs, with each placement costing about $600.

Looking ahead, anticipation is mounting for the next installment in the Call of Duty franchise, with Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War expected to be revealed at a special Xbox showcase on June 9.
