A tribute to mothers | The Express Stand

The Creator of the universe is perfect. He spoke “Kun” in Arabic, which means “to be or to be,” and accomplished it flawlessly. He created the land and the colorful plants. He gave life to creatures great and small and provided them with the best food for their health, whether they were animals, humans or other creatures, seen or unseen.

As we look at all these beings in the universe, it seems to our little understanding that He is the best creator and reflects His being as the best painter. Among all He created couples; humans in men and women, and the same goes for animals. He bestowed upon beings abundant feelings of love and care. We live with all the pleasures He gives us.

There is one relationship that will always remain priceless and unparalleled: that of motherhood. The mother keeps the child in her womb for almost ten months. She feeds on her body and bears all the pain to bring the child into the new world with all the joy. She spends sleepless nights, feeding at her best and taking care of all her belongings, risking her health and personal belongings.

The word ‘mother’ is defined by an indescribable depth of love and care that she passes on to her children. She embodies and radiates the best care and love to her children, whether they are physically disabled or have any other disability or vulnerability. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that she is the best of all the relationships in the world.

The word ‘mother’ has different interpretations in languages, but it all sounds fun to evoke. It is often pronounced with endearing terms like mama, mama, mama, Amar, Mataji, Ami, etc. It is heartwarming to think that a newborn child’s first spoken word, mother, is learned in its native language. How sweet it sounds that the child’s native language is the language he learned from his mother.

Mother is the superstar creation in this world, with no comparison to her in the family or among all creations. If we refer to the dictionary of other languages, we come across several names related to the mother. For example, in Farsi the word for mother is ‘Mādar’ or ‘Mādaram’, while in Arabic it is ‘Umm’. Urdu refers to mother as ‘Ami’, and in Sindhi it is ‘Amar’ or ‘Amma’. In Punjabi it is ‘Mai’ or ‘Mataji’; in Hindko it is ‘Babe’; and in Pashto it is ‘Mor’. ‘Madre’ in Italian, ‘Me’ in Vietnamese, ‘Maji’ in Hindi, ‘Ema’ in Estonian and ‘Mae’ in Portuguese, and so on. These diverse language expressions all possess a cherished beauty when articulated. The beauty of these words is enhanced by the moment when the lips meet and form the sounds that call to the mother.

Throughout history we find some truly extraordinary mothers. Amina, the mother of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), occupies a special place. She is the mother of the Prophet who is ‘Rahmit-ul-Almin’, loved by Allah for his boundless compassion.

Then there is Mariam (Virgin Mary), the mother of Jesus Christ, aka Prophet Esa (peace be upon him). Her story is remarkable; she gave birth to a child without a human father and faced the challenges of society with grace, raising Prophet Esa (peace be upon him) to fulfill his divine purpose.

And let us not forget Jochebed, the mother of Moses or Prophet Moosa (peace be upon him). She courageously nursed her son in secret, defying Pharaoh’s tyrannical decree to protect his life.

Above all, these mothers exemplify love, sacrifice and strength, serving as lessons for all humanity. There is no doubt that she is the best when it comes to providing care, affection, guidance, education, and so on. She endures all the hardships of life to provide comfort to her child.

Throughout history, mothers have excelled in every aspect of life. They willingly bear the burdens of life to ensure their child’s well-being, courageously facing physical dangers and enduring mental challenges to create a healthy environment full of joy. Expressing gratitude and paying tribute to such boundless devotion feels inadequate compared to the magnitude of their contributions. Mothers have been unparalleled and invaluable figures in human history.
