Former music producer from nearby Franklin found guilty of sex crimes against minors

Samuel “Sammy” Sylvester – Released by the Franklin Police Department

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TN – In neighboring Williamson County, a former music producer from Franklin, TN was convicted Wednesday of sex crimes against a minor.

Samuel “Sammy” Sylvester, 55, was found guilty by a Williamson County jury of seven counts of statutory rape and two counts of sexual assault by an authority figure. Each statutory rape count carries a prison sentence of 8 to 12 years. Sylvester will also face an additional 3 to 6 years on each charge related to the allegation of sexual assault by an authority figure. A sentencing date has not yet been set.

According to Franklin police, between 2009 and 2010, Sylvester committed the crimes against a 16-year-old female musician he was working with. Looking back to December 2019, Sylvester was arrested by the Franklin PD after being indicted by a grand jury. Reports indicate that Sylvester was previously convicted of crimes against children in Minnesota and Tennessee. There is an additional case pending.

During his career, Sylvester worked with many children. For that reason, investigators believe there may be more victims. Franklin Police ask anyone with information to contact Franklin Police Detective Andrea Clark at (615) 550-6829, or [email protected].
