US Trade and Development Agency, Indonesia Partner on Smart City Innovations for New Capital City

The U.S. Trade and Development Agency has signed a technical assistance grant with Indonesia’s Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) for the development of priority smart city infrastructure in Indonesia’s new capital, Nusantara. These technologies will help optimize government resources, increase sustainability and improve the quality of life for the residents of the new city.

“In everything we do, USTDA works with partners like Indonesia to support the priorities they have chosen for their countries,” said Enoh T. Ebong, USTDA Director. “In the case of Nusantara, our goal is to facilitate the deployment of American technology to advance the creation of a world-class capital that is sustainable, efficient, connected, livable and inclusive.”

Cities face the challenge of identifying the most suitable technologies for their needs and making purchasing decisions that prioritize longer-term quality over short-term costs. “Developing a smart, sustainable forest city of Nusantara offers the unique opportunity to integrate state-of-the-art technology and a sustainable green environment to improve our quality of life,” said Prof. Mohammed Ali Berawi, OIKN Deputy for Green and Digital Transformation. “We invite international cooperation to be part of the development of a livable and loving city of Nusantara. I express my appreciation for USTDA’s support in participating in the development of Nusantara, a global city for all.”
