‘Challengers’ Star Mike Faist Wears a Dazzling Veggie to the 2024 Met Gala

Mike Faist is proof that there is more than one interpretation of a garden.

The Challengers star (and newly minted, unofficial churro spokesperson) wore a bedazzled turnip on the lapel of his 2024 Met Gala look Monday night. The dress code for the event was “The Garden of Time,” tied to the Costume Institute’s latest exhibit from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’.

Most of the stars who attended the annual party either interpreted the assignment as a flower garden – like Kerry Washington, Colman Domingo, Ayo Edebiri, Amanda Seyfried and Lily James, for example – or didn’t understand the assignment at all (we won’t name names).

But Faist appears to be the only one who has completely gone for vegetable garden chic. The fun accessory certainly stood out on the carpet, but also on Faist’s ensemble as a whole, which was otherwise more subdued. Faist wore a black Loewe tuxedo jacket and white shirt with off-white pants and black round-toed shoes.

Faist, who was joined by Challengers costars Zendaya and Josh O’Connor at the event kept an eye on it all Challengers family with his appearance. Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson was also the costume designer for the salacious tennis film.

The Met Gala serves to raise money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, while simultaneously giving celebrities the opportunity to live out their wildest haute couture dreams. This year’s gala was co-chaired by Anna Wintour, Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Lopez and Zendaya.
