The custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture dress took 800 hours of hand embroidery, the design house said. It contains more than 2,500,000 silver foil bugles and beads.

In her latest collaboration with stylist Law Roach, Zendaya’s gala look is reminiscent of a peacock, with shades of green, purple and blue. The dress is vintage Christian Dior, couture from spring 1999, designed by John Galliano.

The 2024 gala co-chair completed the dramatic look with a dark lip and a feathered hat.

The luxury hotel on 77th Street has become synonymous with the annual gala, photographing stars leaving the Mark for the Met after a day of prepping there.

This year, PEOPLE will be livestreaming from outside the hotel, so fans can catch a glimpse of the stars before they even reach the Met.

Anna Wintour, Fashion‘s iconic editor-in-chief has arrived at the 2024 Met Gala.

This year, Wintour opted for a dramatic, long black blazer adorned with red and yellow flowers, custom made by Loewe. Underneath she chose a simple white dress. One aspect of her look that has remained steadfast year after year? Her signature bob.

Chris Hemsworth is one of four stars joining Anna Wintour to co-chair this year’s Met Gala, and is already heading to the carpet.

Hemsworth was filmed leaving the nearby Mark Hotel on New York’s Upper East Side with his wife Elsa Pataky on May 6. The Australian actor went for a monochromatic look in all cream, while Pataky opted for a figure-hugging gold dress with long sleeves.

It’s tradition for the co-hosts to be among the first to arrive on the Met carpet, so it’s not surprising that the Hemsworths leave the hotel early.

Every year, the carpet, walls and inside of the tent are made to perfectly fit the theme of the Met Gala.

This year’s theme is “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” and the gala itself has the dress code “The Garden of Time”. And the 2024 steps are cream with a soft ombre green coming in from the edges. The press walls are, as usual, covered with greenery and flowers.

The real highlight, however, are the tent walls with large images of leafy trees.

The complete effect is certainly reminiscent of a garden.

Although the Met Gala tent only allows a small glimpse into the chic soiree, fans still gather across from the Metropolitan Museum of Art to watch the stars arrive for the big event.

Barricades have been erected allowing access only on one side of New York’s Fifth Avenue, but people gathered early – hours before we can even expect the first celebrities to arrive for the party.
